I think my family could live on Italian food, and at least twice a week we have some form of pasta. I like to use this recipe because it incorporates our heart-healthy ground white turkey meat, and it is quick and easy. My family loves it because it is full of flavor and delicious! While I usually serve this sauce on wide fettuccine noodles, it is also delicious used in lasagna or on any kind of pasta that you prefer.

Italian Turkey Bolognese

2 Tablespoons olive oil

1 lb ground turkey

1 large onion, diced

2 carrots, shredded

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 cup red wine

1 cup beef broth

1 28 oz can tomato sauce

4 T tomato paste

2 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

2 tsp Italian seasoning

1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

1.Heat the olive oil over medium heat and brown the turkey with the onion. Add the garlic and sauté for two minutes. Add the carrots, wine, and beef broth, and simmer for 5 minutes allowing the alcohol to cook off.

2.Add the remaining ingredients (except the Parmesan cheese) and allow to simmer over low heat for 20 minutes until the carrots are soft. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and serve over your favorite pasta.
